about

Vasna Aguilar in a Swiss – Mexican performing artist and choreographer. She explores the fluid boundaries between movement, text, and sound. Her practice embraces experimentation and interdisciplinary exploration, constantly questioning traditional forms and discovering new possibilities. Her trajectory is defined by movement between artistic, geographical and cultural contexts. Bilingual and regularly connected to Mexico through family ties, she operates from an “in-between” position across cultures and languages, informing her interest in connection as an artistic principle.

Her choreographic language developed through early collaborations with theatre ensembles, opening her practice toward text as an important element in the process. Text becomes a motor for choreographic research and a source for movement and composition.

She studied classical dance at the Hamburg Ballet School John Neumeier and contemporary dance at Codarts University of the Arts. Since then, she has worked internationally in both institutional theaters and the independent scene, collaborating with artists such as Ersan Mondtag, Gustavo Gomes, Henri Hüster, Shang Chi Sun, Alina Rentsch, Thomas Noone, Olivier Py, Georg Reischl, Felix Hafner, Mauro de Candia, Heidi Vierthaler, Susanne Linke, Andre Mesquita, Ruben Reniers. As a choreographer she has worked with the ensembles of the dance Company Osnabrück, Schauspiel Wuppertal, Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen, Bühnen Bern, Landestheater Innsbruck, among others.
